I grew up with Jerry and spent many happy hours at her family's home in Silver Hills. One of my fondest memories, however, is the 7th grade speech contest. She and I were contestants and when she stood up to talk about the birds she heard outside her window and then proceeded to whistle their calls, she left the rest of us in her dust!! I hope she taught her children those calls... Nancy, Billy, and Charlie, I remember you all from a very early age, and well as your mother, father, and grandfather. May the memories of the good times comfort you in your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all and with Jerry's husband and daughters. With love, Liz Voyles Taurman

I am shocked to learn today of Jerry's passing. This is very sad news. She was a wonderful person, fun to be with and such a fascinating conversationalist. I will miss our long talks about life, education, and nature. What a great loss to her family, friends, and the community. My condolences to the family.

My sincerest sympathy to Jerry's family. Jerry and I worked together at JP McCaskey High School. She was a very unique individual and contributed a great deal to the staff and students throughout her tenure. She will be missed.

I have fond childhood memories of Jerry. I grew up 2 blocks from her on Silver Hills. We rode bikes all over the hill and did bike tricks, We played Jotto in her tree and swam in her pool. Her dad was very exacting and made sure that she excelled in tennis and academics. I sat with her at our 40th reunion. She didn't expound on all of her later achievements. But I know that she read her encyclopedia 3 times one summer

I am from New Albany, Indiana and just learned of Jerry's death. My brother was a tennis contemporary of Wiley (known as Bill to us) and of Charlie. I rarely spent much time with Jerry or with Nancy. However, after reading this touching memorial to Jerry, I see that it was definitely my loss not to have had the opportunity to know her better. What an accomplished woman! I regret that I cannot count myself among those who shared in her life.
My condolences to her family.

Jerry will be missed in our office! She was so helpful with our 4-H programs, she helped lead our Butterfly project and was so excited about expanding that program. She was always in our office volunteering as a Master Gardener answering questions and educating others. Our hearts are heavy, she was part of our family and will be missed terribly. Sending prayers to you all.

Jerry was my neighbor and friend. She was instrumental in encouraging me after the election to pursue my need to resist the current administration and organize an Indivisible group. I didn't know about her extensive education achievements, but would have loved talking with her about them... I'm a retired teacher.
I will miss her so much, and rementer her humor and enthusiasm. I know she was looking forward to her grandchildren's visits this month. I'm so sorry for your loss. Love, Nancy

Jerry was a wonderful person and willing to give of her time to help the youth. The Chatham County Parks and Rec. summer campers really enjoyed her instructing summer nature time to them. The department really appreciated her willingness to help. We will miss her and sorry for your lost.
