Mary Margaret Stackpole started her new adventure on August 13th, 2020. Those looking for her new forwarding address are encouraged to look for her in cool, sunny mornings in Pittsburgh, or at a local ice cream shop (especially if the flavor of the day is chocolate), or a great sale at one of her favorite stores. She said she may be hard to reach at times, but you'll just have to keep trying - she's there.
Her first trip began in Milwaukee, WI on January 17th, 1950, where she lived with her older brother John (Sandra) Stackpole and younger siblings Ann (Stackpole) Wrenn, Thomas Stackpole (d.), and William (Valerie) Stackpole. She then moved to Pittsburgh, where she received her Bachelors at Chatham University and made many wonderful, lifelong friends. There, she pursued a career in Public Relations, working at Creamer Dickson Basford, Ketchum, and Mercer, where she oversaw many successful brand campaigns. She went on to travel all over the world with two of her close friends, Gene and Sandy O'Sullivan, and their daughter Shea, where she took many pictures that she cherished for years to come.
Her most recent adventure brought her to Raleigh, NC to be close to her sister Ann and two nieces, Mary Elizabeth and Helen Wrenn. They enjoyed long, lingering lunches nearly every weekend in Cameron Village, window shopping all of the best sales, long walks, cooking meals on Thanksgiving and Christmas, and getting ice cream on warm, southern afternoons together.
On this new adventure, she joins her brother Thomas and parents, Jean (Roughen) and Charles Stackpole, along with her two beloved Yorkshire Terriers, JD and Bridgette. She leaves her forwarding address to her brothers, sister, nieces, and numerous close and loving friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to share your pictures and memories of her previous trips with all of those who have traveled with her as often as you can.
Mary is off for her biggest adventure yet. And she will be loved and missed so dearly.
