Margie Rigsbee Barnes

Mrs. Margie Rigsbee Barnes, age 93, of Chapel Hill died Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at Alamance Regional Hospital in Burlington, NC.

Mrs. Barnes was born in Chatham County on March 23, 1927 to the late Clarence W. Rigsbee and Rachel Gray. For 20 years, she would go to work at Roses, then come home to cook and feed her large family while working on their farm raising tobacco. She was a faithful wife, a loving mother and adoring grandmother.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Woodrow Henry Barnes; her three sons, Jaffey, Larry and Clarence Barnes; along with her brother, two sisters; three grandsons and one granddaughter.

Mrs. Barnes is survived by her children; sons, Henry “Ted” Barnes and Troy (Rose) Barnes, both of Chapel Hill; daughters, Frances Jordan of Chapel Hill and Diane (Billy) Eubanks of Fuquay Varina; eleven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will held 11:00AM, Saturday, August 22, 2020 in the cemetery at Lystra Baptist Church, where she was a member. The Rev. Tim Williford will be officiating.
