Joseph Gill Obituary

Joe was born September 2, 1957 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Herman and Helen Briggs Gill.

Joe was a “laid-back,” quiet man who loved the simplistic life of working his farm. Working with wood, restoring his barn and making “sawdust” was this side of Heaven.  It was a peaceful diversion from the pace and demands, a 30+ year career of over the road transportation brought to his life. He loved driving for PTI, having any opportunity to fish, eating great seafood, BBQ and grilling for his family and friends. Joe’s love of music was (over 300 CD’s) was only surpassed by his adoration of the Grateful Dead.

Joe is survived by his life partner, Kimberly S. Matthews, of Pittsboro; his sister, Debbie (Ken) Holtz, Sr., of Clarksboro, NJ; his four children, Joe (Carrie) Gill, Jr., of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Sara Gill, of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Teri (Robert) Peters, of Dowagiac, MI and Keith (Anna) Matthews of Cassopolis, MI; his eleven  grandchildren, Willow Smith, Haileahy Peters, Lucas Wurz Matthews, Abygail Peters, Ella Gill, Benjamin Wurz Matthews, Luke Gill, Joe Gill III, Milana “Joe” Peters, Nathan Hammond and Andy David Hannafius; his great-grandbabies, Freyja Lynn Peters Hammond and Charlie Rose Peters Hannafius; his in-laws, Charles “Joe” Grover and Donna L. Grover; and his beloved cat, Marrisa, (that he would call and ask about 3 times a day.)

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Faith Michelle Matthews.

Services will be held in Michigan at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Joe’s honor to the choice of the donor.

Finally, to Mr. Nate Millner, words simply fail to express the gratitude our family has to offer your compassionate generosity. You have been a guardian angel, sir. God bless you!

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
