After a hard-fought battle with cancer, Helene Krapf, age 61, of Pittsboro, died peacefully on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the SECU Jim & Betsy Bryan UNC Hospice House.
Helene was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 25, 1957 to Helen Marconi DiGiaro and the late Frank DiGiaro. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Linda and Frankie.
Helene is survived by her husband John H. Krapf, sister Diane, step son Matthew Krapf of Freeport, NY, step son Jesse Krapf of Brooklyn, NY, step daughter Jamie Thorsen and husband Christopher Thorsen of Huntington, NY, step daughter Kaitlyn Hintze and husband Ian Hintze of Lynbrook, NY, and ten grandchildren, including Dylan Krapf, Christopher John Thorsen, Conner Thorsen, Jesse Taylor Krapf, Braedan Hintze, Luke Krapf, Amara Krapf, Jameson Hintze, Trystan Hintze, and Gabriel Krapf.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 7, 2019 from 7PM to 9PM at Donaldson Funeral Home & Cremation Griffin Chapel. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 10AM at Bynum United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Helene was one of the most generous and compassionate people you may ever meet. So, it should come as no surprise that even while suffering, she was thinking of others. Prior to her death she insisted that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her honor to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
