George (Lindy) McLendon Rimmer, 61, of Siler City, NC, passed away early Thursday morning, July 16, 2020 in his home with his family by his side. Lindy was born March 1, 1959 to Nell Saunders Rimmer and the late Gordon McLendon Rimmer.
Growing up in the Carpenter area of Cary, NC, Lindy developed a lifelong love of the outdoors from family camping trips to Jordan Lake where days were filled with fishing and waterskiing. A natural athlete, Lindy loved all sports and was the softball pitcher of Good Hope Baptist Church, where he was a member. After graduation from Apex High School in 1977, he joined the NC Highway Patrol and served in telecommunications for 30 years. Once retirement came, Lindy was able to focus more on raising cattle full time, on the farm he and his family had previously settled in the Crutchfield Crossroads area of Siler City. He often would play his guitar, though Bluegrass was his favorite music. Lindy had several CB (Citizen Band) radios that he monitored and chatted with people all over the world. The Green Dragon shall be missed.
Lindy is survived by his wife, Michelle, of the home; his daughter, Rachel Murray (Cameron) of Okinawa, Japan and his daughter, Linsey Rimmer of Pittsboro, NC; his mother, Nell Rimmer, of Cary; his brother, Stanley Rimmer (Tina) of Holly Springs, NC; his Aunt, Kathy and her son, Derek McLamb of Cary; his niece, Taylor Hall (Sheldon) and their two children, Axel and Sladen; and his niece, Hunter Rimmer.
Services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider an honorarium to UNC Hospice.
