Eva Louise Tracy

Eva Louise Tracy of Pittsboro North Carolina passed away at UNC Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 with family by her side. She was 92. Eva was the second daughter of the late William Henry Barnett and Maggie Muriell Bradney. She was born in Higgins, Texas on July 3, 1929. She had one older sister, Alice Fern. Eva and her family moved to Colorado when she was a small child. Her parents operated a local grocery store in Canon City, Colorado. 

At the age of 13, Eva and her family moved to Long Beach, California where she later met her husband, the late Michael Loray Tracy. They married on January 14, 1947. Michael worked for General Mills, Inc. and Eva was a homemaker. Eva and Michael had six daughters, the late Kathleen Louise, the late Mary Shannon, Erin McLean, Patricia Anne, Kelly Maureen, and Kerry Eileen. Eva and her husband Michael lived in several states throughout their marriage including California, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Georgia.

Eva was a devote Catholic and taught religious education classes for over 40 years in parishes in California as well as in North Carolina. She was also an active volunteer for numerous groups and schools throughout her life.

Eva and Michael celebrated 42 years of marriage until his death in 1989. Eva was the grandmother of eighteen grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren whom she loved and enjoyed her entire life. Eva’s favorite aspect of her life was her family. In addition to raising a large family and supporting her husband’s corporate career, Eva loved the outdoors and had a small ranch in Harris County, Georgia where she raised and cared for cattle and horses. After Michael’s passing, Eva continued to live in rural Georgia for almost 25 years. As she aged, she moved closer to one of her daughters in Pittsboro, North Carolina where she enjoyed residency for 10 years. 

Eva was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, daughter and friend. She will be missed dearly.

A visitation will be held Sunday, April 10th, 2022, from 5:30PM-6:30PM at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory in Pittsboro, NC. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 11, 2022, at 11AM at Saint Mary Magdalene Church in Apex, NC.  All are welcome to attend.
Eva Louise Tracy will be laid to rest in Ogden, Utah at the Ogden City Cemetery next to her husband, Michael Loray Tracy and surrounded by the Tracy family on April 13, 2022 at 2:00pm.

The Tracy Family is requesting flowers to be sent to the Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary in Ogden, Utah, 3408 Washington Blvd, Ogden, UT 84401.

In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation can be made in Eva Louise Tracy’s name to the Catholic Charities of North Carolina or the Sjorgen Foundation.
