Carley Winifred (Looney) Walker

Carley Winifred Looney Walker, 76, died peacefully, surrounded by her children, on March 31, 2023, at
the SECU Jim & Betsy Bryan Hospice Home of UNC. She was born on October 18, 1946, to Carley
Winifred Williams Pardington and Clifton Feaster Looney in Amarillo, Texas.

Carley attended Chapel Hill public schools and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1978. She earned her CPA designation in 1984 and finally
realized her goal of becoming an accountant. In 1995 she opened her accounting business, beginning a
successful career as an entrepreneur. Carley's legacy will live on at Walker & Edwards Financial Group,
with her unwavering dedication to her clients' long-term success kept alive under Tina Edwards’ guidance.
Over the years, her adventurous spirit took her from sun-kissed, idyllic tropical beaches and ancient,
mysterious lands; to exploring famous American cities and enjoying the beautiful North Carolina coastline
with family and friends.

Carley was a voracious reader and especially loved historical fiction that fed her active mind. When she
wasn't reading, her passion for cross-stitching and creating beautiful, treasured gifts showcased her fertile
imagination. She enjoyed socializing at parties and was always quick to share a laugh, yet she equally
valued her moments of peace and privacy.

Her children and grandchildren, whom she adored and cared for, admired her courageous attitude and
outgoing nature, taking her strong character and gregarious spirit as an example to live by.

She is survived by her sons Ethan Hazard (Nichole) of Smyrna, NC, and Scott Walker (Katrina) of
Pittsboro, NC; her sister Celia Pierce (Frank) of Carrboro, NC; her brothers Steve Pardington and Joe
Pardington (Nan) of Chapel Hill, NC; her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Drew Hazard (Emily) of
Havelock, NC, Logan Hazard of Raleigh, NC, Trey Williams of Smyrna, NC, Nicholas Walker (Jewel) of
Pittsboro NC, and Taylor Walker (Matthew) of Pittsboro, NC.

Carley is preceded in death by her Father, Clifton Feaster Looney (1923-2002); her mother, Carley
Winifred Williams Pardington (1927-2013); her brother Malcolm Wayne Pardington (1961-1981); and
husbands, Allen Fred Hazard and Herman Taylor Walker.
Even as we mourn her loss, we cherish the fond memories made: Carley will be remembered as a
generous and loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, cousin, friend, and businesswoman.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on April 8th from 11am-1pm at Donaldson Funeral Home at 396
West Street in Pittsboro, NC.
