Bessie McCravey Andrews

Bessie McCravey Andrews, age 77, of Pittsboro, North Carolina peacefully passed away in her home, Tuesday, February 16, 2021.

Bessie was born in Wake County, North Carolina on April 12, 1943 to the late Lester and Hyacinth Richardson McCravey.  She was also preceded in death by her brother, Junior McCravey.

Surviving relatives include her son, Jason Mendenhall, and wife Valerie of Pittsboro; daughter Tammy Dickerson and son-in-law John Couch of Sanford; grandchildren, Jennifer Dickerson of Sanford, Kaitlyn Christman and husband Travis of Pittsboro, Ashleigh Mendenhall of Pittsboro, and great granddaughter Kayleigh Tripp.  Also surviving are four sisters, Catherine Newman of North Carolina, Christy McNabb, Tonie Anne Morris, and Viola Wooten of South Carolina.

The family is planning a service to honor the life and memory of Bessie on Saturday, February 27, 2021 from 1-2 PM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 1309 N Pea Ridge Rd., Pittsboro NC 27312.

Due to COVID-19, please protect yourself and the family by wearing an appropriate mask and practice social distancing as allowed.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Bessie’s memory to the American Cancer Society (Breast Cancer).
