Retha Ann (Kelley) Seagroves

Mrs. Retha Ann Kelley Seagroves, 75, of Apex passed away surrounded by family on Monday, January 7, 2019 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC following a brief illness.

A native of Lee County, North Carolina, Retha was born August 13, 1943 to the late James Henry Kelley and Ethel Ketner Kelley.  She was married to David L. Seagroves for 45 years, until his passing in 2007.

Retha is survived by her son, Buddy Seagroves and wife Pam Seagroves of Pittsboro; daughter, Kelly Rieck and husband Mario Rieck of Fuquay-Varina; along with grandsons, Jackson Seagroves and wife Bays of Durham, Evan Seagroves of Leland and Trevor Jennings of Fuquay-Varina; and step-grandson, Dylan Rieck.  She is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Deurie and John Barker of Sanford, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Retha leaves behind her beloved poodle, Maggie.

Retha enjoyed cooking for her family, sewing and gardening.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved deeply.    

Services for Retha will be private.  Memorial donations may be made to UNC-Chapel Hill, Office of Gift Services, P.O. Box 309, Chapel Hill, NC  27514-0309, with a memo to direct to the Vascular Surgery Fund for Excellence (345953).
