William Davis Brown

William Davis Brown, known to most as Davis, passed away at age 79, Sunday, March 23, 2025 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, Orange County. Davis was born on July 20, 1945 to Thurman Austin Brown and Bronna Hulda Cox in Randolph County, North Carolina. Survived by his wife, Marilyn Leabres Brown, his son, Williamjosh Leabres Brown and his daughter, Lindsay Leabres Brown. 

William graduated from Asheboro High School class of 1963. Davis started his college education at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill pursuing a degree in Chemistry, before being drafted into the US army in 1966, working as a Medical Lab Specialist.

Davis had a passion for Chemistry. Initially working as an Analytical Chemist Research Tech and Laboratory Supervisor, then 30+ years as Lead Science and Lab services Specialist at Duke Energy, formerly known as Progress Energy.

Davis had several interests throughout his life such as reading and watching science fiction, favorites of his being Starwars and Dune. Davis had an interest in space, often watching How the Universe Works and Nova Davis had an interest in a variety of martial arts such Hapkido, Tae Soo Do, and Taekwondo, winning 1st place in his age group at age 69. His love for coffee starting at age four, continued throughout his life, averaging three to four cups a day.
