Wayne Thomas

James “Wayne” Thomas, age 84, of Pittsboro died Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at home.

Wayne was born in Chatham County on September 19, 1939, to the late James Dewey Thomas and Gladys Burnette Thomas.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Clarine Thomas, three daughters, Angie Wieland and husband Bert of Pittsboro, Shelley Frye, and husband Gene of Pittsboro, Allison Womack, and husband Joey of Pittsboro, one son, Michael Thomas, and wife Tracey of Snow Camp, one brother, William D. Thomas and wife Yvonne of Clinton, NC, 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday, February 18, 2024, from 1:30PM-2:20PM at Mt. Gilead Baptist church. The funeral service will follow at 2:30PM with Pastor Dan Robinson and Pastor Wesley Thomas presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions to be made in Wayne’s memory to Mt. Gilead Baptist Church 1785 Mt. Gilead Church Road Pittsboro, NC 27312.
