Virginia Grace Waldeck

Virginia Grace Waldeck, 102, passed away on Thursday, July 24th at Eno Pointe Assisted Living Center. Born on August 28th, 1922, to Benjamin and Grace Brechbiel, Virginia spent her early years in Newberg, Pennsylvania. She moved to North Carolina in 1987 with her son, Rodney Van Scyoc, and his wife, Mary. Soon afterward she met Johnny Waldeck of Pittsboro and the two shared 18 years of marriage before his passing in 2008. She was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church, where she very much loved and appreciated being part of the community.

Virginia is survived by her three children and two stepchildren: son Rodney Van Scyoc (Mary) of Durham, NC; son David Van Scyoc (Patty) and daughter Robin Knable of Fayetteville, PA; stepson John Waldeck, Jr of Vass, NC; and stepson Alfred Waldeck of Pittsboro, NC; as well as 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She now joins her husband, Johnny Waldeck; parents Benjamin and Grace Brechbiel; her brothers Harold, Ben, and Art Brechbiel; her sisters, Pearl Tyler and Evelyn Daihl; and stepsons Richard and Fred Waldeck. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9th at 11AM, at Emmaus Baptist Church, 2430 Silk Hope Gum Spring Rd, Pittsboro, NC 27312 with a luncheon to follow.
