Thomas Allen King of Raleigh, NC and formerly Bethesda, MD, died peacefully following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer early Tuesday morning, April 30th, 2024, at the age of 71 in Chapel Hill, NC.
Tom was born November 25th, 1952, in Fairfield, CT to the late Albert E. King and Geraldine “Gerry” S. King. Tom grew up in Seaford, NY where he attended Seaford High School, later receiving a Bachelors in History at American University. Tom then earned his CFA designation while working as a portfolio manager in the trust departments of Chase Manhattan, PNC, and First Union banks before “hanging up his shingle” as an independent investment advisor. His clients enjoyed exceptional returns on their portfolios over the years due to his acumen in the field.
Tom lived a full life pursuing his many interests in history, music, crime novels, golf, and fishing.
Tom’s greatest legacy is his loving family, including his four adoring children: Dr. Rebecca L. King of Rochester, MN; Emily D. Garcia of San Diego, CA; James T. King of Raleigh, NC; Juliet S. King, of Chapel Hill, NC; and his friend and former wife, Suzanne H. King of Beaufort, SC. He will be forever missed by his two sisters, Sally Anne Finkelstein of Del Rio, Texas and Patricia Coon of Saint Albans, VT, and his granddaughter Fiona R. Garcia, daughter of Emily.
Tom will be welcomed into Heaven by those that have departed this life before him, his parents, Gerry and Albert, his brother David, and his son Timothy.
Tom will be dearly missed by the many friends and family he has gathered throughout his life.
May God Grant Him Eternal Rest.
