Shirley Marie Robinson Kilner

Shirley Marie Robinson Kilner, age 92 of Chapel Hill, NC, passed away Friday, May 9, 2025.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Louise (Ludecke) Robinson, her father and mother in-law Edwin and Bernice (Parke) Kilner, and her brother, George Robinson.

Survivors include her loving husband of 69 years, Raymond A. Kilner; sister Claudette Porter, sister-in-law Sandy Robinson; three daughters, Kathy Fussell (Steve), Lynn McClurg (Greg) and Susan Wilkat (Tom); 5 grandchildren - Kristin Cole (Steven), Tommy Wilkat (Maria), Ashley Wilkat, Rylie McClurg and Carah McClurg; and one great grandchild – Khloe Cole.

Shirley was born in Meriden, CT and raised in Thomaston, CT.  She graduated from Thomaston High School in 1951 and from the University of Connecticut in 1955.  She met Raymond while in college, and they married shortly after she graduated in August 1955.  Shirley began her teaching career soon thereafter, which spanned over 29 years in both Connecticut and South Florida. 

Shirley was proud of her family over all things, but also enjoyed golf, painting, gardening and hiking.  Over the span of their lives together, Raymond and Shirley enjoyed living in Harwinton and Thomaston, CT; Coconut Creek and Vero Beach, FL; and Linville Land Harbor and Chapel Hill, NC.  Shirley was an incredibly loving and caring person, had a lifelong love of God and was active in church.  Hers was a life well-lived, and she will be sorely missed.
