Sharon Elizabeth (Spangler) Shaffer

Sharon Elizabeth Shaffer, of Pittsboro, passed away on November 19th, 2025 at age 78. She was born on September 8th, 1947 in Mayking, Kentucky, to Ercell and Gladys Osborne Spangler.

Sharon was an extremely devoted wife and mother, sharing 49 years of marriage and three children with her husband, Jerry Shaffer. She spent her life caring for her sons, Brian and Jeff, and her daughter, Jeanna, and loved them with all of her heart.

Sharon joins her parents, Ercell and Gladys, in death, as well as her sister, Delores Hildebrand, and her brother, Douglas Spangler.

Left to cherish Sharon’s memory are her husband, Jerry Shaffer, of the home; sons David Brian Owens and Jeffrey Michael Owens (Rachel), both of Pittsboro; daughter Jeanna Lynn Adams (Scott) of Fort Worth, Texas; grandsons Joshua Owens (Kourtney) of Franklinton, Zachary Owens (Katie) of Fuquay-Varina, Christian Owens of Pittsboro, and Jeremy and Seth Adams of Fort Worth, Texas; granddaughter Gracie Owens of Pittsboro; great-grandchildren Kole and Harper Owens of Franklinton and Sophia Owens of Pittsboro; and sister Wilma Joyce Renner of Springfield, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Disabled American Veterans.
