Sandra Ann Lawson Sexton, age 77, died at Alamance Regional Hospital in Burlington, NC on Sunday, June 16, 2024, with her family at her bedside. She was born on February 1, 1947, to the late William C. Lawson and Lenny Joy Smith Blalock in Alamance County, North Carolina. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lonnie Sexton, daughter, Yvette Sexton, grandson, Trevor Eno, brothers, Andy Lawson and Jackie Lawson, sister, Mary Braxton and sister-in-law, Dorothy Thomas.
Sandra is survived by her son, Chad Sexton of Pittsboro, Yvonne Goldston (Anthony) of Siler City, brothers, Steve Lawson (Terri) of Eli Whitney, Chesley Holt (Wendy) of Graham, stepfather Roy Blalock, brothers in law, Herbert Ferguson, Dale Braxton and Richard Thomas, sister-in-law, Lillie Mae Ferguson, grandsons, Terrell Goldston (Lendy) and Dillon Goldston, three great grandchildren, her “adopted” daughters, Paula Fiest, Beverly Hearne and Cynthia Snowden, and nine nieces and three nephews.
Sandra retired from UNC Hospitals working in the Medical Records department. She loved doing crafts, cooking, fishing, going to the lake and the beach, dancing and singing karaoke.
Her family wants to express their thanks and gratitude for the love, care and support her caregivers and nurses showed her and her family.
A memorial service will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 2PM with a visitation to follow. Dr. Wesley Thomas and Rev. Bob Wachs presiding. A graveside urn burial will be at Merritt’s Chapel Church immediately following the visitation.
