Samuel Holt Obituary

Samuel James Holt, 20, of Bonlee went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Sam was courageous in his battle with medulloblastoma at 8 and with osteosarcoma at 17. He was blessed to be cancer free for years in between.

Sam was born on December 15, 2004, to Randy and Bethony Holt. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Robert "Kitten" Holt, his maternal grandfather James "Jim" Orwin, and his aunt Luanne Holt Oestreich.

He graduated from Lee Christian School in 2023 and received the inaugural award for embodying the Christ-like characteristics the school stands for, named the "Sam Holt Award" in his honor. He answered the Lord's call to ministry, immersing himself in the Word and enrolling in courses at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Sam was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church in Pittsboro, faithfully attending Sunday School, worship and youth group. He was passionate about teaching the Royal Ambassadors. Sam counted it as a privilege anytime he was able to lead a worship service. He made an impact wherever he went, sharing Jesus with anyone from waiters to doctors and nurses, as well as family and friends. Sam simply loved his Lord.

Sam cherished his time riding horses, especially on his long-awaited trip to Wyoming, and dreamed of becoming a wrangler. He had great taste in country music and enjoyed collecting Legos and watching Star Wars. He could spend hours drawing, sitting by the firepit, and petting his dogs Sadie and Bo.

Sam never defined himself by his limitations. He never believed there was anything he couldn't do. He trusted in the power of the Holy Spirit. John 15:5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

Sam is survived by his parents, his older brother Aaron Holt, his paternal grandmother Peggy Holt Rosenberger, his paternal step grandmother Charlotte Holt Hill (Errol), his maternal grandmother Paulette Orwin; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held to honor Sam's life on Wednesday, January 1, 2024, at 2:00pm at Emmaus Baptist Church, with Pastor Steve Moore presiding, 2430 Silk Hope Gum Spring Road, Pittsboro, NC.
