Sammy Franklin Dickinson, born September 21, 1948, in north Louisiana, joined his wife, Sharon White Dickinson, “love of his life”, on March 16, 2026. He and Sharon were married for 46 years, were together for almost 50 years. Sammy loved his friends and his family. Many friends remember their annual Christmas parties at their home in Pittsboro, NC. He enjoyed books, music, his daily crossword puzzle, and morning coffee, preferably on their deck, listening to the birds. Sam was an avid football fan, especially for Baylor, where he graduated with a degree in psychology.
Sam battled cancer for 4 years, was preceded in death by Sharon, on January 15, 2026. Sam was also preceded in death by his mother, Frankie Elkins Dickinson, his father Joe Lloyd Dickinson, his stepfather, John Elkins, and his sister, JoNita Hawes Dickinson.
Sam is survived by his cousins, who loved him and knew he loved them. He is also survived by Sharon’s three sisters, who loved him. Sam and Sharon will be deeply missed by all who knew them.
Donations to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association are welcomed.
