Ruth was born on December 13, 1926 in Middleboro MA to Arthur Hatch Parker and Ruth Catherine (Dryden) Parker. She graduated high school in Palmer MA, and Nursing School in Northampton MA. She worked for many years as a Registered Nurse in the Pediatric Department at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton MA and then in Oncology at Duke University Medical Hospital in Durham NC. She retired from nursing in 1995.
Ruth spent much of her adult life in Plainfield Massachusetts, where she was active in the Ladies Benevolent Society, town committees, raising St. Bernards and walking with her dear friend Anna Hathaway. She loved her family, traveling the world and visiting with friends. She gave generously of her time, making dolls clothing for children, knitting hats and scarves for donation and crocheting afghans for dialysis patients. She continued driving up to age 95, and remained very independent. She was an avid reader, a pleasure that stayed with her up to her very last days. She enjoyed making new friends wherever she went and will be missed by all who knew her.
Her family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of Cambridge Hills Assisted Living in Pittsboro for the love and care they provided to her over the past two years.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in her name to Chatham Animal Rescue and Education (CARE) in Pittsboro, NC.
Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the Chudy family.
