Roscoe Middleton Farrell Jr. passed away peacefully in his childhood home at the age of 96 on May 2, 2025.
Born September 25, 1928, in Pittsboro, NC to loving parents, Dr. Roscoe M. Farrell and Myrtle Johnson Farrell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years. Maxine Cook Farrell, daughter Patricia Farrell Jacques, grandson Rob Jacques, twin sister Myrtle Farrell Whitehead and sister Callie Vick Farrell Phillips.
He was a 1945 graduate of Pittsboro High School. Roscoe retired from Kayser Roth Hosiery Company in 1994. He was always a farmer at heart. Before employment with Kayser Roth, he operated a dairy farm. Later in life he enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Working with his sidekick and friend, A.J. Lindsey, he enjoyed sharing his freshly picked vegetables with friends and family. This brought him much joy. As a member of Pittsboro United Methodist Church and after retirement he enjoyed providing various handmade wood items for the annual church bazaar.
Surviving family includes daughter, Janet Farrell, son Roscoe Farrell III (Teresa), grandson Cody Farrell (Olivia), granddaughter Megan Farrell Saulsbury (Cory), son-in-law Robin Jacques.
The family wishes to thank Liberty Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care. Also, a special thanks to his granddaughter, Megan, who was by his side daily providing him with very loving care in his final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Pittsboro United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 11:00AM with Rev. Lucas Nelson and Rev. Ray Gooch presiding. Visitation will immediately follow in the Family Life Center.
