Ronald Clark Davis originally of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on May 16, 2026, after a years-long battle with Alzheimer’s disease with his wife of 37 years, Linda, by his side.
Ron was a proud graduate of Broad Ripple High School, Indiana University, and the Indiana University School of Law. He worked in general counsel roles for several insurance companies, including College/University Corporation, Time Insurance Company, Golden Rule Insurance Company, and finally United Healthcare from which he retired in 2006.
Ron was an avid golfer, a game he learned and shared with his father. He played on his high school varsity and collegiate teams and made many lifelong friends on the course. In his retirement, Ron was able to play many days each week at the Golf Club of Indiana, until realizing his retirement dream of living and playing all of the golf he wanted at the Venice Golf and Country Club in Venice, FL. When he was not on the course, he was usually practicing on the driving range or putting green, cheering on Indiana sports teams (Go Hoosiers!), reading the newspaper, or enjoying a glass of good red wine.
Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Clark Davis McDonald, his father, Ernest L Davis and daughter, Alissa K Davis. In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by son Brian R Davis of Los Angeles, CA (with first wife Karen Velte Davis), daughter Brittany Davis Vanneman of Chapel Hill, NC, and her spouse Brian T Vanneman. He is also survived by three strong-willed granddaughters who embody his wit, charm, and curiosity: Kaeli A King, Nell I Vanneman, and Margot R Vanneman.
Ron will join his parents in the Crown Hill Cemetery Mausoleum in Indianapolis. A celebration to honor Ron’s life will be planned for a later date.
Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the Davis Family.
