Richard Allen Stewart

Richard Allen Stewart, age 78, died Monday, May 1, 2023, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
He was a Native American born in Person County, North Carolina to the late Numond
Stewart and Lois Pearl Coleman Stewart.

Surviving Richard is his loving wife of 56 years, Lee Hillsinger Stewart, of Pittsboro, NC
two sons, Michael Stewart of Orange County, California, Anthony Stewart and his wife
Nancy of Orange County, California and daughter, Lisa Marie Scott and husband James of
Moore County, NC. He is also survived by his grandchildren whom he loved, Austin Scarboro

and wife Anna, Brittany Combs and husband Zach, Brianna Stewart, Bryson Scarboro, Hunter Stewart,

Cameron Scarboro and Dawson Scarboro, and great grandchildren, Memphis Scarboro and Georgia
Scarboro, one brother, Lynwood Stewart and wife Cheryl of Pennsylvania, four sisters,
Sylvia Arnold of Virginia, Cheryl Walker of Virginia, Glenna Cullen of Pennsylvania, Gail
Gold and husband Harold of Virginia and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Richard worked for twenty-five years as a lab technician for Garret Research in California
and then ten years for Triangle Environmental Services in North Carolina. He was honored
to be called a Vietnam Veteran, special forces in the United States Army. His hobbies
included playing golf and motorcycle riding.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory on
Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 2pm. There will be a time for visitation following the service.

No flowers are requested. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Richard’s memory should be
made to Vietnam Agent Orange Relief & Responsibility Campaign P.O.Box 303 – Prince
