Raymond John Maurice

Raymond John Maurice, age 94, died at UNC Hospitals in Hillsborough, NC on December 27, 2022.

Raymond was born in Brighton, Wisconsin on April 10, 1928 to the late George Phillip and Alta Mae Hartnell Maurice. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen and sisters, Renata and Eugenia and two brothers, Eugene and Robert. Raymond served in the military in the Army from 1950-1952 and had the rank of Sergeant.

Surviving Raymond include two sons, Rich Maurice (Sook) of Pittsboro, NC, Steve Maurice (Stephanie) of Ridge Crest, CA , six sisters, Kathy Maurice of Death Valley, CA, Karen Wolfe of Cedar Edge, CO, Diane Maurice of Alexandria, VA, Barbara Maurice of Wake Forest, NC, Julie Vanerus (Bill) of Spring, TX and Sharon Fabbri (Ken) of Bristol, TN, two sisters, Rita Keman and Mae Robers both of Wisconsin, 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Raymond was a twin in a family with three sets of twins. He was a wood worker and made furniture and doll houses.  In his later years, he loved gardening and planted a large garden. Family members commented on the watermelons and how they could hardly wait to taste them, but he informed them that all the produce was going to be given to the local food bank and soup kitchen. He loved farming.

The Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Apex, NC on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 11 AM. Burial will be at Chatham Memorial Park in Siler City following the funeral service with Military Rites.
