Paul Niederer, Jr

Paul Niederer, Jr., formerly of Wenham, MA, passed away on September 21, 2024 in Pittsboro, NC.
He was born in Hackensack, NJ and his early years were in Carlstadt, NJ.
He graduated from Lehigh University in June 1953 with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. From there, he joined the US Army Ordinance Corps, where he served until 1955. His stations included the Aberdeen Proving Grounds MD, Fort Knox KY, and Mannheim Germany. He achieved the rank of First Lieutenant.
Paul had a long career as an engineer with the General Electric Co. Aircraft Engine Group in Lynn, MA, from which he retired in 2001.
He was a member of Christ Church of Hamilton and Wenham MA, and The Chapel of the Cross in Chapel Hill NC. As a member of the Rotary Club of Hamilton-Wenham he received the Paul Harris Fellow Award.
He enjoyed serving with the Hamilton-Wenham Boy Scouts and his 19 years on the Wenham Conservation Commission, many of these years as chair.
He leaves behind his wife, Jeanne Ann Ames Niederer, his two sons Theron Paul and wife Emmy, Melvin Mark and wife Betsy, and a daughter Nancy N. Milner and husband John. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
His memorial service will be at a later date in NC.
