Matriarch, collector, and woman of enduring strength.
Joyce Dahmer passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, at the age of 92. She was a woman of deep faith, strong opinions, quick wit, and an unshakable will, qualities that defined her life and shaped the generations that followed her.
Born on August 26, 1932, in Laurinburg, NC to Roy and Frances Peele, Joyce excelled both in her studies and in athletics. She lived a full and vibrant life anchored by her Christian beliefs and her devotion to family, and she met the world head-on, never one to back down from what she believed or compromise who she was.
She was an eclectic collector at heart. Over the years, she surrounded herself with treasures that caught her eye and stirred her memory, each piece a small reflection of her personality, her stories, and her joy in the details of everyday life. Her home was a mosaic of history, humor, and heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Dahmer, who loved her dearly. She is survived by her four children: Ann Lamanna, John “Bert” Wieland, Jr., Robert “Bobby” Wieland, and Douglas Wieland; her grandchildren: Hildon Jackson, Caroline Wieland, Ashley Wieland Heaton, John Wieland, Spencer Wieland, and Julia Wieland Pollard; and great-grandsons: Samuel Wieland, Dallas Heaton, Finn Heaton, Walker Wieland, and Hudson Wieland.
Joyce’s wisdom was a gift, and her love, though sometimes tough, was unwavering and profound. Her legacy is one of resilience, strength, perseverance, and family.
Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the Dahmer family.
