Mickal "Mike" (MC) Thomas Campbell, 75, of Pittsboro, NC died on June 22, 2023. He passed peacefully in his sleep, with friends and family surrounding him with stories and laughter about his antics. It was EXACTLY what he wanted.
He was the son of the late Allan Coy Campbell and Ruby (Richardson) Campbell and was born in Lee County, NC on June 6, 1948. He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Blue) Campbell, his son Rick (and wife Karen), his son Allan, his sister Joan (and husband Ron), his brother Don (and wife Nancy) and his granddaughters, grandson, and nephews (and their families).
Loyal son. Caring brother. Devoted husband. Guiding father and grandfather. Loving uncle, nephew, and cousin. Best friend to everyone he met. He was the embodiment of what it means to be part of a "family". There aren't enough words to express how profoundly he affected so many lives for the better. He was a coach, a mentor, a true servant leader, a hero, and an inspiration to so many.
He stood for what was right, and he enjoyed life to the fullest. His hobbies and interests included fishing, golfing, camping, boating, motorcycle riding, softball, dart-throwing, cowboy-action shooting, gunsmithing, woodworking, cooking, and more… too numerous to mention them all.
His heart was too big for this world. While he was with us, he affected countless people with his generosity, friendship and mentorship. He had so much more to give us, but he was called onward to even better and greater tasks. We will miss him dearly. But we will carry forward his legacy.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday July 1st, 2023 at 11:00 AM at New Salem Baptist Church. Memorial tributes can be left for the family on this site.
Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the Campbell family.
