Michael "Mike" Neal Blackwelder

Michael “Mike” Neal Blackwelder, age 75, of Pittsboro died Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the SECU Jim & Betsy Bryan Hospice Home of UNC.

Mike was born in Lee County, North Carolina on May 22, 1949, to the late Thomas Blackwelder and Catherine Johnson Blackwelder. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Blackwelder.

Surviving relatives include his wife of 43 years, Charlotte Hearne Blackwelder, one son, Michael Trent Blackwelder of Goldston, one daughter, Shelli Blackwelder Buck and husband Edward of Kenly, NC, stepdaughters Tina Deese Desanto and husband Steve of North Richland Hills, Texas, Terri Deese Eddins of Asheboro, two brothers, Dave Blackwelder and wife Sherry of Sanford, Lynn Blackwelder and wife Denise of Moncure, one sister, Cathy Battiato of China Grove, NC, and six grandchildren, Nathan Eddins, Montgomery Fields, Cullen Fields, Triston Blackwelder, Abby Desanto, and Freddy Desanto.

A visitation will be held Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 2:00PM-2:50PM at Hunt Springs Baptist Church 1557 St. Andrews Church Road Sanford, NC 27332. The funeral service will follow at 3:00PM with Dr. Wesley Thomas presiding. Burial will follow at Asbury United Methodist Church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made in Mike’s memory to Hunt Springs Baptist Church 1557 St. Andrews Church Road Sanford, NC 27332.
