Mary Ann (Leverentz) Henderson

Mary Ann Henderson, 87, passed away after a sudden and brief illness on June 6 with her daughter at her side.  She is now home with her Father, Savior, and Creator.  She was born Mary Ann Leverentz in Minneapolis, MN in 1939.  After graduating valedictorian at Patrick Henry High School, she went on to get a full ride scholarship to Macalester College with a National Honor Society scholarship.  She married the love of her life, Scott Henderson on June 16, 1961 and started teaching math at Hopkins Junior High School.

After having three children she enjoyed staying at home while raising her children.  Mary was a devoted, loving and caring wife, mother and friend.  She had a servant heart and was always helping anyone she could.  She was involved in Bible Study Fellowship, teaching Sunday School, leading women's groups, working with AWANA and helping in the church kitchen.  Her family and others can attest to what a wonderful cook Mary was and seemed to always be making a meal for someone.

Most of all she loved her Lord and spent countless hours in personal Bible reading and prayer, especially for missionaries around the world.  Mary and Scott lived in Minnesota until 2012 when they moved to North Carolina and spent the last seven years of her life at Pittsboro Christian Village which she loved and where she and Scott have been lovingly cared for.

Mary joins her parents, Paul and Lillian Leverentz in her new heavenly home.  She is survived by her husband Scott; three younger brothers Paul (Betty), Dave (Karen), and Steve (Arlene); her three children Mark (Ming) grandchildren Kyle, Kaitlyn; Dave (Cyndi) grandchildren Jordan, Noah and Joshua; Sharon (Jeff) grandchildren Ben and Lilly; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Pittsboro Christian Village Auditorium 1825 East Street Pittsboro NC 27312, on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 1:30PM with a visitation to follow.
