Marguerite Annabelle Ross

Jesus gathered Maggie Ross to Heaven after a heroic battle with kidney cancer on September 9, 2021. 

Maggie was born in Santa Ana, CA, on September 24, 1934, the daughter of Mary Lou Owings (Piercy) and Clyde Owings. Maggie studied music in community college in San Bernardino, CA. She was a loving mother and wife (Donald Ross, deceased), as well as a music teacher.  Later, Maggie taught business skills at St. Vincent's Home and School for children with developmental disabilities in Santa Barbara and business math in Whittier, CA.  While working as an executive secretary in Silicon Valley, she earned her Bachelor's degree and nearly gained her Master's degree in Telecommunications. She went on to work as a telecom analyst and project manager for Charles Schwab in San Francisco.

Maggie retired to the Sierras (near daughter, Debra). She loved to hike in Yosemite and sold her artwork (china painting, dollmaking, photo cards) to local art stores.

Maggie moved to Anchorage, AK, near her daughter, Debra and son-in-law, David Lawrence. She was active in the Anchorage Women's Club as historian, attended the Governor's Prayer Breakfasts, and helped to start Anchorage Presbyterian Fellowship, ensuring it remained true to Jesus' teaching.  Maggie moved to Port Ludlow, WA, near Debra and David.

In October 2018, Maggie moved to Pittsboro, NC to be near her daughter, Jan and her grandson, Daniel Duffala. She attended Chatham Community Church and her trust and faithfulness to God increased. She was a true follower of Jesus. 

Maggie is survived by her daughter, Jan Ross and grandson, Daniel Duffala of Pittsboro, NC and her daughter, Debra and son-in-law, David Lawrence of Orcas Island, WA. Maggie was an inspiration to her dear friends and family.

A brief Celebration of Life service will be held 4:00PM, Friday, September 24, 2021 at Chatham Community Church, 480 Hillsboro St. #800, Pittsboro, NC 27312.
