Margaret Cook "Cookie" Andrews Smith

Margaret Cook “Cookie” Andrews Smith, age 85, of Charlotte, formally of Carrboro, died Friday, August 4, 2023, at the Terra Bella Little Ave. assisted living.

Cookie was born in Orange County on January 31, 1938, to the late Phillip Monroe Andrews and Margaret Blake Andrews. She was also preceded in death by her husband Benny Lee Smith and one brother Phillip Andrews, Jr.

Surviving relatives include one daughter; Margaret “Todd” Smith Yaeger and husband Rob of Charlotte, one son; Mark Lee Smith of Chapel Hill, one brother Hamlin Andrews and wife Belinda of Ocean Isle, NC, and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 10:00AM-10:50AM at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory Griffin Chapel. The Funeral  Service will follow at 11:00AM with Rev. Joe Jackson presiding. Burial will immediately follow at Westwood Cemetery in Carrboro.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made in Cookie’s memory to Meals on Wheels of Orange County P.O. Box 2102 Chapel Hill, NC 27515.
