Margaret Hamilton Obituary

Margaret Alice M. Hamilton, 86, of Pittsboro died Tuesday, Mar. 31, 2024. She was born on February 24, 1940, the daughter of Margaret McCutchen and Joe McCutchen.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, Ernest Bee Hamilton, and daughter Sonja McKenzie. Sisters Dorothy Reid of Montezuma, Georgia, and Sara Jo Philley of Parry of Georgia. Nieces Dr. Elizabeth Reid and husband Pete Gelber of Cordele, Georgia, Jennifer Walt of Waynesville, N.C., Elisabeth of Scotland, and Maggie Hardrick of Pennsylvania and nephew Alex Philley of Texas. Sister-in-laws Patricia H. McDonald of Fayetteville, and Gail Hamilton of Meadows of the Dan, VA. As well as many other nieces and nephews.

Margaret worked with the Animal Protection Society of Durham through program of Duke University for many years. Her passion in life was the love and care for all animals, being an animal mom to many herself. Her greatest passion was pulling for the University of Chapel Hill’s basketball team!

In the span of her life, Margaret was an inspiration to many and touched the hearts of all those.

that knew her, with overflowing wisdom and love. May she rest in peace, forever in our hearts.

May she be the Angel in Heaven to watch over and protect us forever; free spirits have to soar.

A memorial service will be held in Indian Town, SC at a later date.
