Lorene "Susie" (Greene) Carter

Susie Carter, 78, of Pittsboro, died on May, 6, 2023.  She was the daughter of the late Earl W. Greene and Edna M. (Seatz) Greene.  She was one of 3 children and was born on April 14, 1945 in Watauga County, NC. Susie is survived by her husband of 61 years, James (Tom) Carter.  Her two surviving children Jeff Carter of Graham, NC and Sue (Carter) Powell and husband Robert of Wake Forest, NC. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren; Barringer Carter (Alexandra), Nick Carter (Brianna), Zach Carter (Elizabeth), Damian Carter, Ashley Jacobs (Sanford), Rachel Powell, and Courtney Johnson and seven great grandchildren; Arianna Jacobs, Scarlette Jacobs, Addelyn Carter, Katherine Carter, Sydney Carter, Michael Carter, and Abigail Carter and her last surviving sister, Anne Carson.

Susie worked for Walmart for 20 years serving as a merchandise stocker and greeter and was a Tupperware distributor for many years.  She never met a stranger and her easy going and happy personality is what gave her the nickname "Momma" not only to her children but to all of their friends who would come to their house for visits.  Susie and Tom loved to travel and even made it as far north as Alaska one time. She loved her family and all of her grandchildren and loved the times they would be able to spend together. Her and Tom are known to be avid card players, some would even say unbeatable in Rook, and Canasta.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 1:00 at the Antioch Baptist Church, 1707 White Cross Rd., Chapel Hill, NC.  The Funeral Service will follow visitation at 2:00 p.m. with burial afterwards in the church cemetery next to her first child James T. (Tommy) Carter Jr.
