Libby Ann Capaldi

On the afternoon of June 3rd, 2026, Libby Ann Capaldi of Pittsboro passed from this world.

Libby lived a full, vibrant life, full of love, creativity, and care for her community. Born November 1st, 1945 in Nevada, Libby settled in Pittsboro and made a name for herself in multiple endeavors. She was an artist, known for her handcrafted custom jewelry. She volunteered frequently, including helping St. Bart’s in their mission to feed the community. To some, she was known as “The Goddess” – a healer and mother figure to many. Her family describes her as love and light, and recalls how much she loved to dance. She had a wild, free, powerful spirit, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Libby cared immensely for her family, and is survived by: son, Frank DiBenedetto and wife Cheryl of Pittsboro; daughter Antoinette DiBenedetto and husband Denis McDowell of Raleigh; six living grandchildren, Billy, Dorie, Darrin, Christopher, Destiny, and Bella; three great-grandchildren; one expected great-grandchild that she was so excited to meet; and her loving partner, Keith McLaurin. She will be reunited with her parents, Onorio and Liboria Capaldi, and her seventh grandchild, Dean, in the hereafter.

Please join the family for a graveside memorial held at Libby’s sanctuary, One Spirit, on Wednesday, June 10th, at 11am. If you feel moved, please bring a small token of love – a flower, a stone, or the like – to leave on Libby’s final resting place. Please come as you are, dressed for outdoor comfort.

A reception will be held after the service at The Mod in Pittsboro, starting at 12:30pm.  

In lieu of formal flower arrangements, the family has requested that donations be made to Saint Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Pittsboro, or the Pittsboro Center for Active Living.
