Lawrence Oliver Dohner (“Larry”), 85, passed away on December 17, 2025. Larry was born on January 10, 1940 to the late Bessie Ellis and John B. Dohner in Alexandria, Virginia.
In his youth, Larry was an active member of the Alexandria Boys Club. He attended George Washington High School and graduated from George Washington University in 1964 with a degree in Business Administration. Several years after graduation, Larry started his own business and remained self-employed for 53 years.
In 1962, Larry married Lynn Bream. They settled in Virginia where they raised their three children (Blake, Laura, and Amy). They relocated to North Carolina in 1998 where Larry became business partners with Blake. Larry was known for his strong work ethic, humor, kindness, generosity, and enduring friendships. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, watching sports, and playing cards. He loved his family and friends, his dogs, his cat, Annie and his bluegrass music. His favorite places to spend time were the Outer Banks (NC), Gettysburg (PA), Rectortown (VA), and Boothbay Harbor (ME).
Larry was predeceased by his parents, Bessie and John, and his brother, John E. Dohner. He is survived by his wife Lynn, his children, Blake (Timolee) Dohner, Laura (John) Kingora, Amy (Matt Mole) Dohner, and his grandchildren, Benjamin Dohner, Grace (Brett) Thompson, and Abigail Kingora.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
