Kathleen Hearne Braxton, age 88, went home to her Lord and Savior on Thursday July 3, 2025. Born November 23, 1936, on the Haw River in Chatham County, to Herbert W. Hearne and Lillian G. Hearne. She was preceded in death by her parents and her Husband Grady Braxton. She was also preceded in death by her brother Arthur Lee Hearne, sister Louise Womble, sister Marie Wolfe, and brother Nathanial Hearne. She is survived by her Daughter Kathy Shuping (Don), Her son Michael Braxton (Lisa), her grandson Billy Shuping (Dianna), two great Grandchildren Grady Jackson, and Charleigh Wrenn, and many special Nieces and Nephews.
Kathleen graduated from Pittsboro High School (1955), where after graduation she entered the workforce as a secretary at Griffins Funeral Home in Pittsboro and the Orange and Chatham Health Departments. Throughout her life she worked several jobs as an administrative assistant. Then she devoted her life her to her late husband to raise their children and work on the family Dairy Farm. She had many jobs on the farm, but the main job was to cook and feed all of the farm helpers when they were working on the farm. There were many days when the counters were full of food and the table was full of workers. After the passing of her Husband, she returned to the work force at the Cashiers Office at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill where she retired from. After retirement she enjoyed being with family and friends, reading books, and severing on the Pittsboro Baptist Church Bereavement Committee.
The family would like to thank the Care givers at the Laurels of Chatham, and Amedisys Hospice and Home health of Garner, with Special thanks to Tracy Baker RN. All the caregivers that helped with her care include her niece Sharon Griffin, Lisa Braxton, and Denice Apple.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 11:00AM at Pittsboro Baptist Church and the visitation to follow in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Pittsboro Baptist Church Bereavement Committee, and Amedisys Hospice and Home Health.
