Judson Dark, III

Newby Judson Dark, III, 73 of Pittsboro died on March 22nd, 2023 at his home.  He is the son of Newby Judson Dark, Jr. and Hazel E. (Upchurch) Dark and was born in Siler City, NC in 1949.  Judson will always be known as everyone's favorite local meat cutter.  He loved what he did and the people who came to see him.  His coworkers were like family to him and he spoke of them often. Judson was also an avid collector of many unique antiques and he loved watching the sunrise on the ocean while hunting for shark’s teeth. He cherished taking care of his many cats along the years, including Patience, who passed away shortly after him.  He is survived by his two daughters, J. Casey Dark of Raleigh and Kristin Dark of Sanford along with his grandchildren; Dominic, Makenzie, and Lucas and his cat; Boo. He will be best known as a loving daddy and grandpa. Judson was one of a kind and had a big impact on a lot of people. He is a legend and will be missed beyond words. 

The family will be receiving friends on Friday, March 31st from 6-8 p.m. at Donaldson Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Goat House Refuge for Cats in Pittsboro in Memory of Judson. www.goathouserefuge.org.  Donaldson Funeral Home is honored to serve the Dark family, tributes can be left on this website.
