John Robert Ponton, Jr.

John Robert Ponton, Jr. age 76, of Avon, North Carolina, died Friday, August 25, 2023, at Duke University Hospital in Durham.

John was born in Albemarle County, Virgina on March 15, 1947, to the late John Robert Ponton, Sr. and Kathryn Barham Ponton.

Surviving relatives include his wife; Teresa Ponton, of Avon, North Carolina and two daughters, Sarah Ponton of Portland, Oregon, and Susan Ponton and partner Joleen Hess Portland, Oregon.  

A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 2:00PMat  Christ Episcopal Church (120 W High St, Charlottesville, VA 22902) with Rev. Courtenay Evans presiding.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be in John’s memory to Buxton United Methodist Church Hwy 12 Buxton, NC 27920.
