John Robert Huston, Jr

We celebrate the life of John Robert Huston, Jr. who joined his Lord and Savior on October 9, 2025, at 10:30PM.  He was born on September 18, 1931, to John Robert Huston Sr. and Louise Eleanor Huston from Talcott, WV.  John graduated from Talcott High School in 1949 and began working as a telegraph operator in the West Virginia railway system, then joined the US Navy in 1952-1956.  During this time, he married his high school sweetheart, Patty Agnes Keatley.  John and Patty were married for 66 years and had two sons and a daughter.  After his time in the service, he gained employment with the US government and retired after 33 years. 

John loved playing golf, gardening and studying his bible.  He also enjoyed communicating on his ham radio and working with various electronics. John was a jack of all trades and was able to master any skill needed. 

John and Patty both received Christ in November 1957 and were baptized shortly thereafter.  He served as an elder at Forest Grove Chapel for nearly 10 years dedicated to teaching others the Word of God.  In later years, he served as a Sunday School teacher at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.

John is preceded in death by two brothers.  He is survived by his two sons, John K Huston (wife Mame Huston) of Charlotte, NC, Kevin D. Huston (wife Angie Huston) of Apex, NC, his daughter, Martha H. Collins (husband James W. Collins, II) of Raleigh, NC; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and guests from 10:00-11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 15 at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 1785 Mt. Gilead Church Road Pittsboro, NC 27312.  The funeral service will be at 11:00AM and the graveside service will immediately follow.
