John Lowell Goin, age 82, died Sunday, June 22, 2025, at his home with his wife beside him. He was born on April 3, 1943, in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas to Phillip John Goin and Lorraine Eva Brown Goin.
He attended preschool in Marysville, Kansas and attended school in Kansas City, Kansas from 1948-1960. John went to Kansas State University 1960- 1961, 1965-1969 earning a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and Business Administration. He served in the United States Air Force (Strategic Air Command) Senior Division from August 1961-May 1965. He was the historian in the 818th Strategic Aerospace Division, and a 2-star General in The Iraq War. John worked for Union Carbide as an Industrial Market Analyst, then he worked at Drew Chemical as a supervisor of Market Research. Later he worked with Air Products and Chemicals as corporate manager of Marketing Research. He worked as an Industrial Research Consultant at Chem Systems.
He was the owner and primary business manager of research and a consulting of Lake View Associates. Afterwards, John worked for Stanford Research Institute (SRI) in California as Business Manager, Principal Consultant in Specialty Chemicals (Products and Markets), then at Kansas State University as an Adjunct Professor in Business Strategy and as a farmer of Bees and Berries with his wife, Connie.
John was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Connie R Cates Goin, children Shelly (3 children and 3 grandchildren), Kathy (Joe) (3 children, 6 grandchildren), Phil (2 children), Cari (Tommy), Jonathan (Melissa) (2 children), Nathan (Jonni Jo) (2 children), Denny (1 child) and Sean, and siblings, Roberta Schmitz, Mike Goin and Charles Goin.
John was baptized at Grandview Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas in 1955. His membership was at Pittsboro Baptist Church in Pittsboro, NC from 2009 until his death where he was a teacher, a member of the finance committee and the cemetery committee.
Verse Micah 6:8 “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 2:00-2:50PM at Pittsboro Baptist Church, funeral service at 3:00PM with Pastors Peter McDonald, Tripp Harmon, Chris Gambos and Ralph Sears presiding, burial to follow immediately at Hanks Chapel United Christian Church in Pittsboro, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation be made in his memory to Pittsboro Baptist Church 902 Fund 121 W Salisbury Street Pittsboro, NC 27312.
