John Earl Church

John Earl Church, age 58, died Tuesday, August 1, 2023.  He was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 16, 1965, to his parents, Captain Earl Vernon Church, U.S.M.C., Retired  and the late Carolyn Cecelia Yeomans Church.

John is survived by his loving wife of eleven years, Julie Burkett; his father, Earl Vernon Church of  Sanford, NC; a sister, Jean Church Myers of Wilmington, NC; two nieces, Hannah Sikes (Casey) of Wilmington, NC, Whitney Maness (Will) of Indian Land, SC; great nieces Mackenzie and Kensley, and great nephews Asher, Caleb, Levi, and William.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Cecelia Yeomans Church and sister, Robin Church Blackwelder.

John received his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and was a successful Build Architect in Information Technology.

John was extremely intelligent, kind, patient,  and loving.  He had a passion for model trains and read extensively on several subjects remembering every detail he read.

John enjoyed using his excavator and clearing land on the acreage at home, participating in reining competitions, raising equine champions, and spoiling his cats and dogs.

John thought the best of everyone was there to assist when needed and will be missed dearly by all.

There will be a private family event tomorrow and a public Celebration of Life held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Spay and Neuter Initiative Program  2709 Bragg Road Fayetteville, NC 28303.
