Joann Pazdziorko Obituary

Joann B. Pazdziorko, 93, of Chapel Hill, N.C. died at her home on Saturday June 20, 2020.

Joann was born on April 15, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan to Roch & Katarina (Frankowski) Grzechowiak.  She and her twin, Maryann, were the youngest of eight children and grew up in Detroit.  Joann married Leo Pazdziorko in 1948 and they lived in Detroit and Sterling Heights, MI and Port Charlotte, FL.  When Leo died in 2009, she moved to Chapel Hill to be near 3 of her children.

Joann was strong, funny, smart, and immensely proud of her Polish heritage.  Her family meant everything to her.  As the cornerstone of the family, she was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was always supportive and encouraging.  She was fond of reading and was an excellent writer with impeccable handwriting.  She had aspirations of becoming a journalist but chose to dedicate her life to raising her family.  People were always in awe of her uncanny ability to recall dates, remembering the birthdays and anniversaries of everyone she knew.  Joann was an exceptional conversationalist and listener and had a great sense of humor.  Family and friends relished the time talking with her about what was going on in their lives. Her generosity and kindness were demonstrated through her continued support of many charities and her resolve to make a positive difference in the world. With a deep devotion to God and her Catholic faith, Joann lived her life with compassion toward others and believed in fairness for all.

Joann will be deeply missed by her 5 children: Claudia (Gregg) Wilczynski, Marsha (Jeff) Thomas, Leonette (Frank) Fedel, Robert Pazdziorko, and Nancy (Brian) Wisniewski; her sister Maryann Ames; her eight grandchildren: Ben, Nick, Rachel, Joanna, Kasey, Robert Anna, and Zoey; and her two great-grandchildren: Beckham and Riley.
