Jeffrey Bert Hawkins (“Hawk”) age 75, of Pittsboro, died Monday, May 29, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Jeffrey was born in Hennepin County, Minnesota on January 7, 1948, to Harold “Bud” Hawkins and the late Dorothy Ciesman Hawkins.
Jeff graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and spent 7 years of active-duty service as a fighter pilot flying the F-4 Phantom aircraft aboard the USS Forrestal. Following an honorable discharge from the Navy, he spent the remainder of his career as a Chemical Engineer with ChemTreat Water Specialists.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Carrie Jo Fulcher Hawkins, his dad, Harold “Bud” Hawkins and wife Lennie of Lake Havasu, Arizona, one daughter, Jill Morse and husband Chris of Holly Springs, NC, one son, Michael Hawkins and wife Jessica of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, one step-son, Jonathan Fulcher and wife Erica of Raleigh, NC, one step-daughter, Jennifer Hankins and husband Chris of Apex, NC, four sisters, Jill Nyland and husband Miles of Grays Lake, Illinois, Pam Ludwig and husband Rodney of Rochert, Minnesota, Polly Stish and husband David of Royalton, Minnesota, Dianne Wilson and husband Tom of Laporte, Minnesota, and seven grandchildren.
At Jeff’s request, a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made in Jeffrey’s memory to Carolina Care Center, a charity near and dear to Jeff’s heart, serving the poor and needy in our community. The Care Center is located at 1503 Walnut Street Cary, NC 27511. www.carolinacarecenter.org.
