Jason met Alison twenty years ago when he was a chef at a nursing facility in New York and Alison worked in the finance office. After 4 years they decided to relocate to North Carolina to be able to enjoy a more laid-back lifestyle. They were married in 2008 on the beach in the Dominican Republic surrounded by loved ones. They just celebrated 15 years of marriage. He loved his fur babies, hummingbirds, anything outdoors, such as camping and hiking, riding his motorcycle, and all of nature. At his home in Chapel Hill, he had a certified bird sanctuary of which he was very proud. Jason was an avid self-taught woodworker; leaving behind beautiful items to be enjoyed for years to come. Jason worked at Hillcrest Convalescent Facility in Durham, NC for 10 years where he worked as a Charge Nurse. He made sure everyone knew that he was “kind of a big deal” there. He loved his residents, staff and families and they loved him in return. He had a kind, nurturing soul and a twisted sense of humor and would never miss an opportunity to make a quick-witted remark for the best shock value possible.
His greatest joy in life came when KK was born in 2011. They had an amazing bond that could never be broken. It was not uncommon to find them practicing their ballet routines and having a “show” for everyone to enjoy.
He will be missed by many, and he was dearly loved by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers there has been a GoFundMe setup on the family’s behalf.
