Janet Elizabeth Thomas Perry

Janet Elizabeth Thomas Perry, age 61, passed peacefully after a short illness on November 4, 2025. She was the daughter of Julian and Gladys Thomas who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Craig Perry, her son, Jacob Daniel Cotten, infant brother, Douglas Thomas, and sister, Jane Thomas Tibbitt.

Janet retired from UNC Hospitals and is currently working for the town of Chapel Hill where she was about to retire on December 1st, 2025. 

She is survived by her sister, Kathy Thomas Justice, her brother, James Russell (Rusty) Thomas, and best friend and love, Mark Walker. Also surviving are nieces, Aimee Thomas Allred, Natalie Justice Thompson, Emily Thomas Judge and Kimberly Tibbitt Silverio, nephew Bradford Julian (BJ) Tibbitt  and great nieces and nephews who she loved very much. Also surviving are her sweet fur babies who she adored, Molly, Branston & Oliver.

The family will hold visitation on Sunday, November 9 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Donaldsons Funeral Home and will have a graveside service at a later date.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers a donation be made in honor of Janet to your local food pantry or food bank and spread joy, like she did, wherever you go.
