Irvin Russell LeGay III

Irvin Russell LeGay III, age 85, died Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. He was born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania on August 25, 1938, son of the late Irvin Russell
LeGay Jr. and Elsie Weikel LeGay.

Irv leaves behind to cherish his memory; his loving wife of 65 years, Sandra Kresge LeGay; son, Jeffrey Scott LeGay, daughter-in-law, Janet Clark LeGay, daughter, Laura Christine Messenger, son-in-law, Jon Carleton Messenger; grandson, Douglas Scott LeGay and friend Caroline Day. Irv was an avid Penn State Nittany Lions and Carolina Hurricanes fan and loved ice hockey. He never complained about getting up at 4:30am to take his son to ice hockey practice each weekend in Hershey, PA. He spent many weekends on road trips to cities across the north east and Canada shuttling hockey players to “out-of-town” games. Since his daughter lived in France for many years, Irv loved to watch the Tour de France each year and ask her about the areas of France along the race course. As many of his neighbors can attest, Irv would always keep dog treats in his pocket or car to keep the neighborhood dogs well fed along his many walks on Log Barn Road. Irv was a Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame inductee as he excelled in baseball, football, and basketball. He also had a passion for tennis and would spend many hours on the tennis courts with friends and family. Irv worked hard in the steel and tool business his entire life and influenced his work ethics on those around him.
