Herman Knieriem, Jr. age 94, died Sunday, March 30, 2025, at The Arbor at Galloway Ridge. He was born to the late Herman Knieriem, Sr. and Elizabeth Hoffman Knieriem in the Bronx in New York on January 25, 1931.
Herman graduated from MIT with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. He met his wife, Mary, when he was evaluating marketing opportunities for a project she was working on, while they were both at Monsanto in St. Louis, MO. They were married 35 years at the time of his death. They loved to cook together, making their own pasta and Chinese food.
He made stained glass and taught Mary how to also. He was an excellent conversationalist and was revered as a Scripture reader at his church.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Fred Knieriem.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Kathryn Tripodi of Pittsboro, son, David Knieriem of St. Louis, MO, daughters, Debra Foster (Mark) of Carlsbad, CA and Kathryn Lesley Knieriem of Rogers, Arkansas, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A service will be planned at a later date.
