Geraldine (Upchurch) Walser

Geraldine Walser, age 87, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.   She was born to the late Leonard Upchurch and Vada Mae Cummings Upchurch on April 26, 1938, in Chatham County, North Carolina.

Geraldine worked at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill until she retired.  After retirement, she volunteered and cooked meals at the Ronald McDonald House in Chapel Hill for years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, R. Odell Walser and her daughter, Amy Walser Johnson.

Geraldine is survived by her nieces and nephews, Martha Collins (Randy) of Winston Salem, NC, Peggy Hatley of Jacksonville, Florida, Barry Mitchell (Donna) of Moncure, NC and Rodney Mitchell (Rachel) of Apex, NC and several great nieces and nephews.

A graveside services are Friday, August 29, 2025, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery 1288 Mt Pisgah Church Rd Apex, NC 27523at 11:00AM.
