George Lee Wait Jr. 89, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 19, 2026, at Pittsboro Christian Village in Pittsboro, NC where he resided.
Born February 2, 1937, to George Lee Wait Sr. and Augusta Brookman, George was raised in Freehold, NJ. He graduated Freehold High School in 1955. He then attended Rutgers University and graduated in 1959 with a bachelor's degree in Ceramic Engineering.
George married Selina Dittmyre on May 28, 1960. They welcomed their one and only child Wendy Lee on March 10, 1961.
George and his family resided in NJ for many, many years: Gillette, Basking Ridge and Ewing. George and Selina also resided in Muncie, IN and Pittsboro NC. They returned to Branchburg, NJ to spend their retirement years near their daughter Wendy and her husband and their two granddaughters. After Selina's passing, George returned to Pittsboro, NC.
George had many hobbies. He played the trumpet, enjoyed competing in a Barbershop group and camping with his family and friends all over the East Coast. George also enjoyed wood carving and painting plaques, gardening and assembling puzzles.
George is proceeded death by his parents George and Augusta Wait, his sister Augusta "Gussie" Lewis and his loving wife, Selina Wait.
George is survived by his daughter, Wendy Sanguiliano and her husband Dominick, his sister Helen Greaves, his brother Edward Wait and wife Jimmie and his granddaughters Amanda and Kimberly Sanguiliano. George will be sorely missed by all who loved him.
