Ellen Pauline Brim Meacham

Ellen Pauline Brim Meacham passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025 in Duke Hospital, after a brief illness. At the time of her passing Pauline was 101 years and 9 months of age. She was born and raised in Walnut Cove, Stokes County, North Carolina, the only daughter of John and Claudia Tilley Brim. She was preceded in death by both parents and brothers Hubert Brim (Sue) and Ralph Brim (Zelma), both of Stokes County. Pauline was married to Auburn Winfred Meacham in 1948 and they lived on his family farm between Pittsboro and Chapel until his death in 1977. They had three children, all girls, Ellen Paulette Meacham Buckner (Richard), Janice Ann Meacham Pleasant (Ben, who passed away two years ago), and Winifred Celis Meacham O’Quinn (Richard).

Pauline was survived by five grandchildren (Christina Mills Harrelson (Rusty), Jason Richard Buckner (Merrielle), Miranda Ellen Buckner Duncan (Mark), Abram Richard Buckner (Mable), and Richard Benton O’Quinn), all of whom loved her dearly, and she was predeceased by a grandson (Scotty Auburn Huff).

Pauline was proud to be survived by six great-grandchildren (Russell Coleman Harrelson, Matthew Parker Harrelson, Hannah Ellen Duncan, Pete Hollis Buckner, Luke Nathaniel Duncan, and Simon Richard Buckner) and she was predeceased by a great-grandchild (Katya “Blair” Elizabeth Buckner).

Pauline worked at NC Memorial Hospital for thirty years, always the night shift, before retiring many years ago. In later years she moved off the family farm and bought a house in Sanford, NC, to be more centrally located among her girls.

Pauline was a loyal Christian and Bible reader, for many years a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Pittsboro, NC. One of her many proud accomplishments was that all of her descendants are professing and practicing Christians.

She is with God now. Well done, good and faithful servant!

Family visitation will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2025, in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, Pittsboro, NC, services will follow at 3:00 p.m., and immediately thereafter her body will be interred in the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery between the graves of her beloved husband and her grandson Scottie.
